The Mitchell is one of Glasgow’s most famous and iconic buildings with its magnificent listed domed exterior. Inside there is a spacious glass-enclosed foyer with café and bar facilities flanked by a theatre, a large multi-purpose hall and a range of meeting rooms providing a comprehensive choice of flexible facilities within a single building.
The Mitchell can be used by private and corporate clients as unique venue with period features in a prime, central location. The Mitchell is an ideal and popular choice for conferences, banquets, private dinners and business meetings.
The Blythswood Room is on the 5th floor of The Mitchell and offers a flexible space with an ante-room to the rear which is ideal for breakout sessions or refreshments. The room can accommodate between 40 and 85 people.
The Burns Room boasts spectacular traditional features and is home to one of the world’s largest Robert Burns collections, much of which is on permanent display to visitors.This impressive, wood-panelled room is suitable for a variety of events including private functions, author events, meetings and other special occasions for between 50 and 100 guests, depending upon the room layout chosen.
The Fairfield Room is on the ground floor of The Mitchell, adjacent to the Conference Centre, and offers clients a small, bright, flexible space with a contemporary ambience.
This room can be used as a standalone meeting room or as an additional breakout space for the Conference Centre. Depending on layout chosen, between 10 and 15 people can be accommodated in the Fairfield Room.
The Jeffrey Room is situated under the magnificent dome of The Mitchell and adjacent to the building’s original marble staircase. The Jeffrey Room also benefits from wonderful internal architecture and traditional features and can offer between 50 and 100 guests (depending on layout ) a truly unique atmosphere for a meeting, conference or recital (the Jeffrey is also home to a Danemann concert grand piano).
The Moir/Dyer/Simpson Rooms offer three linked meeting, breakout or workshop areas and are often used in conjunction with the Conference Centre.
Each room can also be hired individually for smaller meetings of up to 35 although the combined capacity of the three rooms is around 100 (in a reception setting ).
The Stirling Room is situated within the original 1911 library building and offers guests an impressive venue space with a traditional character. This inviting room is ideal for a variety of events including training seminars, meetings and talks which are expected to have (depending on layout) between 20 and 35 people in attendance.
The Conference Centre provides a 400-seater auditorium and can be combined with three immediately adjacent breakout spaces (see Moir/Dyer/Simpson Rooms) to create a dynamic and compact conference venue. The well-equipped Conference Centre is also a popular choice for theatrical productions, dance shows, product launches and larger business meetings.
The Main Hall at The Mitchell is on the ground floor and is particularly suitable for dinner parties, dinner dances, award ceremonies and receptions. Around 200 guests can dine in style in The Main Hall and up to 300 guests can attend a reception in this stunning venue space. Formerly the largest and most ornate of The Mitchell’s public reading rooms, with its spectacular architecture and decoration, The Main Hall is now also regularly used as a venue for conferences, exhibitions, book and antique fairs. Currently there is a whisky exhibition in the Main Hall.
